The Iroda SolderPro 110K gas soldering iron with the soldering tip removed is a powerful gas torch with a fine flame tip that is perfect for silver jewelry soldering projects. We tested it by soldering silver cufflink posts to the back of a pair of gold plated microwave transistors for a tech-styled silver jewelry project.
How do you use the SolderPro 110K gas soldering iron for silver jewelry soldering?
When you remove the soldering tip from the Iroda SolderPro 110K gas soldering iron it transforms into a precision, high temperature gas torch. The pinpoint pencil flame is perfect for achieving the temperatures required for precious metal soldering, and the gas reservoir is more than adequate for any size of jewelry soldering task. You can see in the picture above the Iroda SolderPro 110K alongside the finished pair of cufflinks we made when using it as a jewelry soldering torch.

What silver jewelry did we make with the Iroda SolderPro 110K gas soldering iron?
We went over the steps for silver jewelry soldering with a gas soldering iron used as a gas torch in our last article, and for this one we’re going to look a bit more at the specific process we followed to make the pair of silver post cufflinks shown in the image above using the Iroda SolderPro 110K gas soldering iron. To convert the Iroda SolderPro 110K gas soldering iron into a gas torch for jewelry making is very easy, you simply unscrew the tip holder, remove the soldering tip and replace the tip holder.

When you ignite the Iroda gas soldering iron with the soldering tip removed you get a high temperature pencil flame that tapers to a precision point, you can see in the image above, and this is perfect for directing the heat exactly where it is required for melting silver solder. The light weight and portability of the Iroda gas soldering iron makes it very easy to work around even the most intricate silver jewelry soldering projects without fatigue.

How do you solder silver jewelry with the Iroda SolderPro 110K gas soldering iron?
- Fill your SolderPro 110K gas soldering iron with butane
- Remove the soldering tip from your SolderPro 110K gas soldering iron
- Clean & coat the silver surfaces to be soldered in soldering flux
- Heat with the gas torch to dry the flux
- Allow to cool
- Place silver solder paste or silver solder cuttings in the joint
- Hold the components together with reverse tweezers or wire
- Heat to orange heat, when the solder should melt and flow into the joint
- Assist the solder into the joint & fettle with a titanium needle
- Quench in cold water
- Buff and polish to the finish you desire

How easy is it to solder silver jewelry with the Iroda SolderPro 110K gas soldering iron?
We found it very easy to complete this simple silver jewelry soldering project using the Iroda SolderPro 110K gas soldering iron in gas torch mode. The workpiece reached the melting point (660C / 1220F) of the solder paste we used very quickly, and after quenching the connection made was very secure. The most time consuming part of the whole silver jewelry soldering process was cleaning and buffing the cufflinks afterwards to remove flux and oxide residue.
